Omaha AAA Hockey and the Southern California Titans have advanced to the championship game of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) Championship Tournament Series in the U18 division after skating to semifinal victories on Sunday at Sharks Ice in San Jose, Calif.
The two teams will face off against each other tomorrow (Monday, February 15) at 10:35 a.m. local time for the right to be crowed NAPHL champions.
Omaha downed Team Maryland, 3-2, in the first semifinal of the day. Kyle VerWoert, Dalton Spicer and Seth Blair (game-winner) scored in the win, and goaltender Randy Graham turned aside 34 shots.
The Titans bested St. Louis in a shootout, 4-3. Mateja Leko, Joe Ginley and Gabe Levin scored in regulation for So Cal, with Alec Hajdukovich and Levin connecting for goals in the shootout. Between the pipes, Gordon Ceasar stopped 23 shots in regulation and four of five in the shootout.
The championship game will be broadcast live via the Internet through B2 Networks.
